PelGar International is delighted to welcome Sandy MacKay as the new Head of its Technical Department, taking over the prestigious technical lead from company co-founder and Director Dr Jonathan Wade. Now retired from the industry, Jonathan had a long and distinguished career in public health and pest control including Head of Pest Control for the Dubai Municipality and then Technical Manager with Zeneca Public Health, culminating in the partnership with Dr Gareth Capel-Williams in 1995 and the launch of PelGar International.
A toxicologist, Sandy brings almost 30 years’ experience in research and product development to the business and has joined PelGar from Wickham Laboratories where he was head of the Toxicology Department.
Sandy will be responsible for PelGar’s insecticide formulation development laboratory at its Telford site in Shropshire, managed by formulation chemist Rupal Karpe and the unique Church Farm animal behaviour research and training facility in Hampshire managed by Jonathan’s son and biologist Alex Wade, where much of PelGar’s rodenticide and insecticide efficacy work is carried out. Together the team under Sandy will be responsible for PelGar’s rigorous scientific formulation development, analysis and testing before products can be registered and finally launched for sale.
MD Dr Gareth Capel-Williams commented, “Jonathan has a well-earned reputation in the pest control industry as an application technology expert, pest control expert and an astute product developer; the success of PelGar is a tribute to our collaboration and he will be sorely missed. They are big shoes to fill but with Sandy’s expertise at the helm of the technical team we look forward to building upon past success as we take the company in to a new era.”
