Frequently Asked Questions

Explore answers to our most commonly asked questions - covering product safety, usage, ordering, and technical support.

Emergency

Rodenticides work by restricting the production of vitamin K1, which thins the blood. You must take your dog to a vet immediately and bring the product packaging, as this identifies the active ingredient and concentration. The vet may induce vomiting (if within six hours) or administer vitamin K1. If you no longer have the packaging, technical product information can be downloaded from our website.

Buying our products

Some regions restrict the concentration of active ingredients available to amateur users or prohibit certain pest control methods entirely. Professional pest controllers are licensed and trained to use stronger formulations and larger quantities. In the UK, Europe, and USA, registration is required to purchase professional rodenticides.

PelGar does not sell directly to domestic users. Our products are available through distributors and retailers including pest control stores, DIY outlets, supermarkets, garden centres, and online platforms.

We sell through a global network of distributors. Our amateur and professional-use products are available via pest control, agricultural, environmental health, hygiene, food safety, equestrian, and horticultural channels. We also supply governments, military organisations, and NGOs.

Please contact the retailer or distributor you purchased from, as your sales contract is with them. They will assist you with any packaging or delivery concerns.

Minimum order values are £500 for mainland UK, €1,000 for offshore UK and Europe, and higher for global export depending on location and product type. To place an order, contact your nearest Sales Representative. Telephone orders are not accepted. For smaller orders, our Sales Support team can direct you to a stockist.

Visit our Contact Us page for global contact details.

We hold bulk stock but manufacture finished products to order. Standard turnaround times are:

Using our products

Check the product label first - some use a peel-back format with information on the reverse. Additional guidance may be found on outer packaging or enclosed leaflets. Technical data sheets are available on our regional websites.

Formulations degrade over time, and products have expiry dates. Rodenticides using grain, oat, or pasta bases have shorter shelf lives. You may use expired products, but we cannot guarantee effectiveness.

Pets should be removed from treated areas. These products must never be applied directly to animals unless stated on the label. Fish and cats are especially sensitive, so extra care is essential.

Due to the variety of formulations, we cannot guarantee how products will affect furnishings. Always conduct a spot test in a discreet area before full application.

Coverage varies by product. Please refer to the individual product label for specific guidance.

Usage requirements are stated on the label. We recommend securing bait to protect non-target species and children. In some countries, bait boxes are mandatory.

Effective pest control depends on correct product use, timing, and environmental management. For example, treating fleas on a pet but not in the home will lead to reinfestation. If you’ve followed all instructions and still have issues, contact a professional pest controller or speak to our Technical Team.

Our products are formulated at maximum effective strength while minimising risk to non-target species and the environment. All chemical manufacturers operate under strict global regulations to balance efficacy with safety. Learn more about PelGar’s Stewardship programmes on our website.

Printed guides are available on request. If you need further help, email sales@pelgar.com with your query and contact number - a member of our Technical Team will get in touch.

Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and product labels are available via the resources section of our website.
