About the Role
PelGar International is looking for an experienced Buyer / Procurement Specialist to join our growing team in Alton. This hands-on role spans the full procurement lifecycle, from sourcing and supplier selection to order placement, supplier management, and continuous improvement.
You’ll play a key role in building a resilient, cost-effective supply chain, working closely with internal teams and suppliers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end procurement, including sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, including reviews and site visits
- Ensure continuity of supply in collaboration with planning and operations
- Drive cost savings and value through effective negotiation
- Monitor and improve supplier performance (quality, cost, delivery)
- Resolve supply and quality issues with suppliers
- Support new product development and supplier onboarding
- Identify cost reduction and process improvement opportunities
- Monitor market trends and mitigate supply risks
About You
- 5+ years’ experience in procurement or buying
- Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
- Background in a manufacturing environment
- Organised, proactive, and commercially aware
- Excellent communicator with strong analytical skills
- Willing to travel for supplier engagement
Desirable
- CIPS qualification (or working towards)
