About the Role

PelGar International is looking for an experienced Buyer / Procurement Specialist to join our growing team in Alton. This hands-on role spans the full procurement lifecycle, from sourcing and supplier selection to order placement, supplier management, and continuous improvement.

You’ll play a key role in building a resilient, cost-effective supply chain, working closely with internal teams and suppliers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end procurement, including sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, including reviews and site visits
  • Ensure continuity of supply in collaboration with planning and operations
  • Drive cost savings and value through effective negotiation
  • Monitor and improve supplier performance (quality, cost, delivery)
  • Resolve supply and quality issues with suppliers
  • Support new product development and supplier onboarding
  • Identify cost reduction and process improvement opportunities
  • Monitor market trends and mitigate supply risks

About You

  • 5+ years’ experience in procurement or buying
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
  • Background in a manufacturing environment
  • Organised, proactive, and commercially aware
  • Excellent communicator with strong analytical skills
  • Willing to travel for supplier engagement

Desirable

  • CIPS qualification (or working towards)
