History

PelGar International was incorporated in 1995 with the objective of providing innovative and novel products for the global public health pesticide market. PelGar believes that while the active ingredients employed in the agrochemical and public health markets are common, the target pests and environment in which those pests live are very different. To provide optimal and cost effective control of public health pests it is necessary to present the active substance in a different way. It is therefore necessary to develop specific formulations for the public health sector more relevant to the flying and crawling nature of these pests rather than the 'chewing' habit so commonly seen in agricultural pests.

PelGar International considers itself as a company with a strong R & D base, utilising both internal and external resources from other industrial concerns and from Universities. Innovative formulation technology coupled with advanced packaging options maximise product efficacy against the target pest while minimising any potential risk to the product consumer, non-target animals and the environment.

PelGar is focussed on two sectors of the public health market; insecticides and rodenticides.

PelGar's insecticide range is mainly based on the synthetic pyrethroids and phenyl urea insect growth regulators (IGR). In the rodenticide area PelGar works only with second-generation anticoagulants and, through a co-operative venture, is a basic manufacturer of difenacoum, bromadiolone and brodifacoum.

The personnel within PelGar have a broad range of expertise in the public health market. This includes a very practical knowledge of pest biology and behaviour, chemical and physical control methods used in IPM strategies, application technology, and at the other extreme, a profound knowledge of the properties of pesticides and their formulation technology.

PelGar, accredited as an ISO 9001 company since 1998, has the capability to research and develop novel products, then manufacture, register and market those products in the global market.

PelGar International Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of PelGar (Holdings) PLC.
